Kyle Busch qualified third for Friday night’s WinStar World Casino 350k NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. Busch, driver of the No. 18 Interstate Batteries/Iamsecond.com Toyota Tundra, turned a lap of 30.054 seconds at 179.677 mph on the 1.5-mile oval.
“Everything was good,” Busch said. “We’ve had a good day here so far practicing our Interstate Batteries/Iamsecond.com Tundra and unfortunately I’m (starting) third right now. Tomorrow I’m hoping not to be second either, but I appreciate Norm Miller (chairman, Interstate Batteries) and all their support with Interstate Batteries and the Iamsecond.com program. I can’t thank enough of those guys. I’m looking forward to it. I feel like we have a really good truck for the race. Actually, we kind of shocked ourselves a little bit qualifying as well as we did. Starting third will be really good for us.”
Matt Crafton captured his fourth career Camping World Truck Series pole, his first of the season and his second at Texas by posting a lap of 29.964 seconds at 180.216 mph.
Elliott Sadler will start alongside Crafton on the outside of row one (30.016 seconds at 179.904 mph), while Busch, Ron Hornaday Jr. (30.061 seconds at 179.635 mph) and Todd Bodine (30.063 seconds at 179.623 mph) rounded out the top-five.
Thirty-seven drivers attempted to qualify for the WinStar World Casino 350k. The only driver failing to make the 36-truck field was Chris Lafferty.
As far as manufacturers went, Chevrolet took the top spot thanks to Crafton’s pole. Toyota was next best at the hands of Busch, while 13th-quick Parker Kligerman was the top Dodge (30.295 seconds at 178.247 mph). Jennifer Jo Cobb was the top Ford by qualifying 31st (31.083 seconds at 173.728 mph).
